Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of healthcare that includes various forms of Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Dietary Therapy. TCM takes a holistic medical approach to understanding the body and illnesses and focuses as much on the prevention of illness, as it does on the treatment.

It is based on the knowledge accumulated by doctors over more than 2,000 years and is being continuously developed and refined to take account of the changes in today's world.

TCM considers both the ongoing interaction between the body and mind, as well as the effect of personal circumstances and the environment on the individual.  The causes of an illness can include both external factors (e.g. climate, social environment), as well as personal issues such as diet and long-term emotional problems. These can cause congestion and blockage of the body's vital life energy (Qi) and bloodstream, which may result in illness.
